Program Objectives

The objective of Boys & Girls Clubs of Marin and Southern Sonoma Counties (BGCMSSC) athletics program is to help participants mature by teaching them good sportsmanship, cooperation and teamwork, and to develop their confidence and self-esteem through the improvement of physical skills.

Clinic Style

All BGCMSSC Athletics Leagues have a clinic-style structure. Coaches are instructed to concentrate on teaching the fundamentals of the sport rather than putting undue emphasis on winning and losing. Standings are not kept and scores are not recorded.

Everybody Plays

The main reason for the clinic-style approach and the low importance placed on winning is so that every player, no matter their ability, will have the same sense of satisfaction. BGCMSSC expects coaches in all leagues to play their players equally.

Be a Coach

We can always use coaches. The commitment is only two hours a week, and we will work around your schedule where we can. You will find it a rich and rewarding experience, but be careful - you may get hooked! (Please note: all coaches must submit to a criminal background check.)

Be a Sponsor

We are always in need of sponsors. For $250 you can support youth sports and get your company name on game schedules and team shirts. We also have opportunities to sponsor our Annual Coaches Awards Banquet or to become a League Sponsor.
